RallyUp offers two methods for processing credit card transactions on your fundraiser:

  • Setup or link your own Stripe account
  • Use RallyUp's payment processing

Note that these choices are for organizations. If you are an individual or business raising money to benefit a nonprofit organization, donations will automatically be processed using RallyUp payment processing.

Setting up or linking your own account

RallyUp uses Stripe to process credit card transactions on your campaign. Stripe is a Tier 1 processor that transacts billions of dollars every year for some of the largest companies in the world. Learn more about Stripe here.

Having your own Stripe account is the fastest and lowest-cost way to process and receive the funds from your campaign. Funds are deposited directly into your bank account at a preferred nonprofit processing rate from Stripe.

RallyUp Payment Processing

If setting up and linking a processing account for your organization isn't feasible due to organization structure or rules, you can use RallyUp payment processing.

Using this method, funds will be processed for your campaign using RallyUp's account. You can request funds when your campaign ends and have them sent by check or ACH.

There are a few details to know before you choose to use RallyUp processing:

  • Transactions will be processed at a rate of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction (Stripe's standard rate). This is slightly higher than the nonprofit rate that you can get with your own Stripe account.
  • Fund requests are processed monthly. Please note that per our Terms of Service, we will withhold an amount equal to 10% of the amount raised or the amount of the largest contribution collected for the campaign (whichever is greater) for a period of up to 90 days. This is to cover any credit card disputes that may come in after the bulk of your campaign funds have been released. If chargebacks or other expenses are incurred after the 90-day period, these amounts will be invoiced to you.

RallyUp customers typically choose to link their own Stripe account unless there is a specific reason they can't. Creating a Stripe account takes only a couple of minutes, and the process is built right into your organization setup on RallyUp. Linking your own account provides a lower processing rate and daily deposits of your funds.
